Easter Eggs and Pail with Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Rub-ons

This week I've been playing around with my FREE Sale-a-bration Rub-ons.  What is better then FREE stuff!!!

I found this pail in my stash of craft items.  I believe I bought it at Target in the dollar spot a few months ago.  It was just a plain lime green tin pail, until I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch holes around the top, then I added some "retired" SU! flower eyelets (both large and small ones).  I've had those eyelets sitting around for a few years...I needed to use them up on something!  Cause when they were in the catalog I hoarded them, now that they are not in the catalog I need to use them up.

Next I added the "friend" piece of the Sale-a-bration rub-ons.  And then added the little butterfly above the word "friend". Want to see the other side of the pail?

For this side, I used the large flower rub-on.  This was so easy to do! I can't decide which side I like better.  Which side do you like better, the "friend" or the "flower"?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

As for the eggs...I bought them at the Christmas Tree Shop a month ago.  They are pretty marble eggs and very heavy.  I had to put several layers of tissue paper in the pail just to support them!  Below you will see close-up pictures of each egg.  You'll notice that I sometimes I layer the green rub-ons on top of the while rub-ons and vice versa.  I think it gave the flowers some depth and I really like the way they look.  The purple egg I went all the way around the center of the egg with flowers, but then ran out of the size flowers I was using (yeah...OK, I did not plan it out, I was just designing on a whim).  So I ended up using a larger while flower and then layered a green outlined flower on top.  I also used a piece of vine and leaf from the 12" long vine and flowers.

Updated Valentine's Day Jar

Back on January 20th I posted this jar, but without the pearl.  I liked the jar before, but kept thinking the flower needed someone.  So one day when I had my Pretties kit out, I grabbed one of the 1/2 pearls and placed it in the center of the flower and ahhhhhh!  Yes that is what it needed!  Doesn't it look so much better?

I have some new cards I made for a SAS last weekend, but I forgot to take pictures of them and now I have given all the supplies and the samples to my sister Kerri for the weekend, so she and a friend can finish making theirs.  Hopefully I'll have those samples back on Monday and I'll be able to take pictures and get them posted for you.  I am really pleased with one of them, because it's my own design as far as the card is folded.  I've had the idea in my head for months, I just never made it, so now I have and I can't wait to share it with you.  So check back on Monday to see the card!

Extreme Makeover - Desk Edition

I'm offering an Extreme Makeover - Desk Edition class on Sunday, Feb. 17th at 1:00 p.m.  We'll make a pen/pencil cup, a Post-it Note holder, a memo cube holder and a few other items for your desk. I used the Cutie Pie paper, but you can choose from any one of SU!'s Designer Series paper (click here to view all the Designer Series papers on pages 168 - 171 of the Spring-Summer 2008 Collection catalog).  Pre-registration by Friday, Feb. 8th is required and space is limited so email me today to register.

Valentine's Day Jar

I'm back...finally! Thanks to all that have continued to check my blog for updates and I apologize for being absent for so long.

Well I finally got my new rub-ons from the new Stampin' Up! catalog!  So I had to play with them.  Check out this jar that my sister bought at Big Lots this past summer.  It looks like a package that has a bow tied around it.  I used the Eastern Elegance rub-ons on this jar.  It was so fun and easy to do!  The new rub-ons come with 2 sheets per package, 1 each of black and white.  There are lots of images on each sheet.  I used one of the 12" borders around the corners of the jar lid (cutting the size piece I needed for each corner) and used a flower in the center of each side.  For the front of the jar I used the large flower.  You need to be careful when you are trying to figure out where you want to lay your image down.  I was trying to decide if I wanted to center my flower with 2 petals across the ribbon (at the top and bottom) or if I wanted 1 petal centered.  Well...part of the rub-on adhered to the jar when I had the 2 petals across the ribbon at the top, so that is what I went with.  But I think I would have preferred the 1 petal...oh well!

For the sides of the jar I used the widest 12" flower border.  I needed 4 inches for each side which means I would need 16" for the whole jar, that is why I opted for the flower on the front of the jar.  To right is a picture of the side of the jar.

I also created a tag that you can sort of see on the side of the jar.  I used a sample swatch of counter-top laminate that I got from the hardware store and inked it with VersaMark and then sprinkled red embossing powder on it and heat embossed it.  Then I used more of the rub-ons to decorate the tag.  I also used a few of the white rub-ons.  See a close-up view of the tag below.

I filled the jar with Cupid Corn - how cute are they?

Memo Cube Boxes

This weekend I finally got a chance to work on some projects!  I made these cute origami boxes from a square sheet of retired Designer Series paper.  These were so much fun to make and then decorating the belly bands is where you get to be really creative.  I was going to make a top for the box, but then decided it just wasn't practical to take the top off for a piece of memo paper.  I needed a way to keep the paper in the box, so I decided on a belly band.

The memo cubes I used were 3 1/2" square.  You'll need a 10 1/4" square piece of paper or cardstock (I used a 12 x 12 sheet of paper and trimmed it.  Click here for the directions.  For the belly band I used the 12" long strip of the double sided paper I had trimmed away.  I wrapped it around the box and paper and adhered the overlapping pieces to each other.  For the flower on the brown box I used 2 flowers from the Pretties kit and inked them with Bashful Blue Classic Ink.  I used the 5 Petal Punch and punched 4 flowers out of Certainly Celery cardstock to make the leaves behind the flower.  I used my Crop-a-Dile and punch a whole in one of the petals near the center (on all 4 flowers) - this allowed me make the leaves stick out beyond the Pretties flower.  Then I used one of the Rhinestone Brads from the Pretties Kit to attach everything to the belly band.

For the flowered memo cube I used a flower from the On Board Accents and painted it with Pink Passion Craft Ink.  You can use the heat gun to speed up the drying - which is what I did.  Then I used my VersaMark ink pad and inked the whole flower and embossed with Glassy Glaze Enamel (which evidentially someone accidentally put white embossing powder into, but it gave the flower a funky look that I was fine with.  Note to self...order Glassy Glaze!)  This memo cube was going with my daughter back to college.  She loves lime green, so I had this flashy green alphabet stickers that matched, so we put her initials on the front of the cube and used a star sticker in the center of the Tempting Turquoise circle on the flower.
