Stationery Box - 4 Cards

Well it's the final posting of my Stationery Box...the 4 cards!  (I guess I could have dragged this out for another 3 days, showing you only 1 card each day...LOL!  But I won't do that to you.)  I hope you have enjoyed this project as much as I have.  I actually can't wait to have a desk to put this on at work!  I also made a desk set a while back that I'm eager to put on my desk...but I think I need to coordinating all the items, so that means I'll have to make a new set of everything.  Oh darn!  Isn't that too bad....NOT!  LOL!

This is what I am calling the apple card.

Oh, remember I said I would show you strawberry pictures today, well I realized this morning that the good pictures are on my Mom's camera, so I need to have her email me those pictures.  I'll have her do that tomorrow, so I can post them tomorrow.  I made chocolate covered strawberries this morning for a picnic I went to today for Nicole Heady of Papertrey Ink.  I'll have pictures of the choc. covered strawberries and a group  photo of those who attended the picnic.

Stationery Box - 3 x 3 Love Notes

We went strawberry picking today...these strawberries were HUGE...some as big as apples!  And some were shaped very oddly.  I have pictures, but I'm too tired to get the pics out of my camera and crop them, etc.  So, I'll do that tomorrow and post them.  You really have to see these strawberries because we all laughed so hard!

Stationery Box - Tags

As promised here are the 3 tags that are in the stationery box.  I have not stamped any sentiments on them yet, because I haven't decided if they will be for birthdays, thank you's, etc. And I find that several of my customers prefer to stamp those sentiments when the occasion arises.

Stationery Box

WOW!  I've been MIA from my blog for 3 months...sorry about that everyone!  After being unemployed for over a year now I decided I needed to concentrate on finding a job and FINALLY yesterday I was offered a position!  I accepted and will be going back to work on July 14th.  So I've got a couple of weeks to get my house in order and spend some time with my girls going to the ocean and the movies.  And the best part is that I can still have time off at the end of July to go to the SU! Valentine Origami Box for Chocolates

I made this cute little origami box a few weeks ago and forgot to post it!  I used a piece of designer series paper that was 6 x 6 for the top and 5.75 x 5.75 for the bottom.  I used Rose Red card stock to punch out the scallop and then adhered a metal embellishment to the center.  Can you guess what the metal embellishment is????  It's the metal top of a glass Christmas ball...you just have to flatten it out.  The center of the metal embellishment is a flower I punched from another piece of designer series paper...I used the 1/4" circle punch.  At the time I was making this I was at my sister's and I didn't bring any ribbon with me, so I just used a strip of Whisper White card stock across the top of the box.

My sister just happened to have some Hershey's Extra Dark square chocolates that fit perfectly inside the box!  And can you believe those chocolates are still in that box?  I know hard to believe, but I am not a big fan of dark chocolate let alone EXTRA dark chocolate! 

Faux Ceramic Bead Necklace

Check out this necklace I made yesterday.  Can you believe the lighter color beads are actually made from strips of Bali Breeze Designer Series paper?  Yes they are!!!!  I can't believe it was so easy to make.  The hardest part is finding the rights beads to go with the paper because there are so many at the craft store!  And then laying out the beads and getting a design that you like.  I didn't have the paper with me when I bought the beads, but I knew which piece of paper I wanted to use and hoped that I was picking the right color beads out.  I think I did a pretty good job.  Now I want to make lots more, which means now I have to buy more beads.  It has snowed here in Maine the last 2 nights into morning and they are predicting more snow tonight into the morning.  So I won't be going to the craft store any time soon, which is probably a good thing for my wallet!

Mini Snowman Paper Lantern

Yesterday I was suppose to be cleaning my house, but I got this mini-snowman paper lantern stuck in my head and I just had to make him.  He measures 6 1/2" tall (from the hat to the bottom) - isn't he stinkin' cute!  Needless to say the house did not get cleaned! 

It occurred to me that the original Snowman Paper Lantern I made was too big to hang as an ornament on my Christmas tree, and that I could make him smaller.  The only thing is the hat was just too time consuming to make and with a much smaller snowman it would be much harder to make.  Of course I was thinking about all this on my way into town to drop off my daughter at college.  So I stopped at a local craft store to see if they had any snowman hats...and THEY DID!  Yeah!!!

See my earlier posts for the Paper Pumpkins and the Snowman Paper Lantern for more detailed instructions on how to make the lanterns. I used Whisper White card stock; the measurements for each snowball are...

• Bottom Snowball = 16 strips - 1/2" x 4 1/4"
• Middle Snowball = 12 strips - 1/2" x 3 1/2"
• Top Snowball = 10 strips - 1/2" x 3"

I just used markers to draw the face and buttons.  I used the paper piercing tool to make holes for some twigs I found in my yard.  You'll need to use E6000 to glue the twigs into the holes.  I used 3/8" Real Red Grosgrain ribbon for the scarf and the 1" tall hat is made by Nicole.  I hope you enjoy my mini-snowman as much as I do!  Thanks for stopping by!

Snowman Paper Lantern

Edited 11/6/07:  I've had so many emails requesting directions for the snowman hat, I decided to edit the post and add the directions.  But somehow the post ended up changing to today's date and the old one is now gone. UGH!  Sorry for any confusion this may cause.  I also have had several request for the measurements on the gatefold card...now I don't dare edit that post!

I have had so many wonderful comments about my paper pumpkins that I thought it was time to finally take the snowman idea from my head and make it!  I did see a snowman similar to this in the SplitCoastStampers Gallery, but it didn't have a face on it.  Today I was checking out a blog that had linked to the Paper Pumpkins on my blog and I saw a snowman similar to this, but made from the SU! Wintergreen designer series papers.   So, I guess I wasn't the only one who thought of this idea after seeing the pumpkin lanterns at convention.

I used Whisper White card stock.  The bottom snowball is 16 strips - 8.5" x 1".  The middle snowball is 12 strips - 6" x 3/4".  The head is 9 strips - 5" x 3/4".  (See the Paper Pumpkins post for more detailed instructions on how to make the snowballs.)  I stamped circles in Brilliant Blue on one of the middle strips.  For the face I just used Marvelous Markers and drew a face.  The hat is made from Basic Black card stock.  I used the Coluzzle Circle to cut the rim & top of the hat and then cut a 1 3/4" x 6" strip for the band of the hat.  It was a little tricky making the hat.  If you want additional instructions for the hat leave me a comment or email me.  I used a 1/2" strip of Real Red card stock to put around the band of the hat.  For the scarf I used some retired 1/4" Red Grosgrain ribbon - I thought I had ordered the 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain ribbon in my last order, but I guess I didn't!  Next order for sure!

I hope everyone likes this snowman as much as they liked the pumpkins!  Enjoy!

Hat Band

1. Cut a strip of black card stock 6 ½” long x 1 ¾” wide – form into a circle and adhere with sticky strip.
2. Cut a strip of red card stock 7” long x 1/2” wide or use ribbon.

Top of Hat

1. Using the circle Coluzzle cut on the 4th slot in from the inside.
2. Punch a hole in the middle of the circle for the ribbon to go through.
3. Then miter the outside edge of the circle in ¼”.
4. Adhere to mitered edge to the inside of the hat band.

Hat Brim

1. Using the circle Coluzzle cut on the 3^rd slot in from the outside – do not remove the Coluzzle yet.
2. Then cut the inside circle on the first slot in the inside of the Coluzzle. Now you can remove the Coluzzle.
3. Draw a circle ½ inch in from the inside circle (I used a salt shaker to trace around).
4. Then you’ll want to miter the inside circle so you can fold in the pieces to stick to the hat band. (click here for a picture then I think you’ll understand)

Paper Spider Witch

I can't seem to stop thinking about all the different things you can make with the paper lanterns!  Although this little guy has been in the works for weeks.  I just couldn't seem to get him to the point where I was happy with him, but I think he's pretty cute now.  For the head I used a Styrofoam ball painted black and then added the googly eyes.  The witches hat I just free hand cut from Basic Black card stock and then added a piece of Green Galore card stock for the band around the hat.  The legs were made from black pipe cleaners.  For the body I used the black spider web paper from the Creepy Crawly Designer Series paper.  I used 12 strips cut 1" x 6".  Today while browsing around at Big Lots I found the spider web in the background for $3.00!  It's huge and is perfect for this spider!

This past Saturday I attended an all day crop and got to sit down and use one of my Simply Scrappin' Kits from last years catalog.  I was trying to create a "Scrapbook in an Evening" layout to use for a class.  This type of class is dedicated to just creating the pages so the customer can go home and just add pictures.  I will be posting these pages over the next several days, so please come back and check them out.

Sweet Treats

Finally...I finished my little Pringles can!  I have been playing with the face for days.  First I thought I was going to be able to use the Carved & Candlelit stamp set to stamp the face, but then when I finally found the set I realized the can was too big for the face.  Ugh!  So for a few days I have been playing around with different punches and finally I got it right (with the help of many family members that were here today for my Mom's birthday party), thanks everyone!

For the Pumpkin Can - I used paper from the Creepy Crawly designer series.  I just measured the height of the can and cut a strip of paper to wrap around it.  You will want to use Sticky Strip to adhere the ends to the can. I traced the cover and cut a circle and placed it inside the lid.  I used my scissors to make a whole in the center of the lid.  I used the 5 Petal Flower punch for the top of the pumpkin (adhered to the top of the cover) and used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a whole in the center of the flower.  I cut a thin strip of Creamy Carmel card stock and wrapped it around a Q-tip to get the curly-q.  I used a small piece of Close to Cocoa Satin Ribbon for the stem of the pumpkin.  For the eyes I used the Ticket Corner punch with the guard removed and punched the edge of Basic Black card stock, then I used the Small Oval punch to punch just half the oval placing it over the spot where I used the Ticket Corner punch.  For the nose I just cut a triangle.  For the mouth I used the Large Oval punch and cut it in half and then cut teeth out.

For the Candy Corn Vase - I used the Creepy Crawly designer series paper to wrap around the vase (I found at The Dollar Tree).  For the little flowers sticking out of the vase I used the Batty For You stamp set with my Marvelous Markers and stamped images on to Whisper White card stock.  I used the 1-1/4" Circle punch to punch out the images and then punched out 1-3/8" Circles in coordinating colors.  I then layered them on to card stock that I punched using the Scallop Circle punch.  I used bamboo skewers cut in half for the sticks and just used glue dots to stick the Scallop Circles to them.  Using the Crimper on 3 different pieces of colored card stock; I cut little strips and tied them onto the sticks and glue dotted them to the back of the Scallop Circles to keep them in place...otherwise they just keep sliding down the sticks.
