To an unforgetable friend

As promised here is all the information for the Elephant card.  (Can you believe I finally kept my word!)

Supplies:

Stamp Set:  Happy Heart Day

Ink:  Jet Black Stazon, SU! Markers

Paper:  Rose Red, So Saffron, Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Cutie Pie Designer Series

Accessories:  Photo Corners Punch, Purely Pomegranate Double Stitch Ribbon, Silver Brads

To make the mini Post-it Note Purse, I used a the post-it notes that are 1.5" x 2".  I took a 2" x 5" piece of Taken with Teal card stock and stamped the flower from the Three for You punch set with VersaMark.  Using my Scor-It I scored at 1.5", 2", 3.5" and 4". (Note:  if you are using the score blade that comes with your Fiskars cutter you will want to score at 1-1/2, 1-7/8, 3-3/8, 3-3/4.)

I then used the Tag Corner punch on the corners.  I used my Crafters Tool Kit to punch the edges all the way around and used my white gel pen drawing a line every other hole to make it look like stitching.  I stamped a flower from the Three for You Punch set and punched it out and inserted a rhinestone brad in the middle going all the way through the front flap of the purse.

For the handle I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch 1/8" hole a half inch in on both sides.  I adhered the ribbon on the inside because if you tie a know then the purse won't close properly.  I used SNAIL adhesive to adhere the Post-it Notes to the inside of the purse.

Successful Open House

Well my first open house was a success!  I had 8 people in all attend and I think everyone had a good time.  As you can see from the picture everyone was busy making cards or browsing the new catalog.  Angela was the winner of the door prize.

I know I promised to get the instructions for the 2 cards and the mini post-it note purse posted on Sunday, but I just didn't get to it.  Yesterday I spent the day making swaps for my upline Carolyn's meeting.  I used the Embrace Life card from the open house, but I had to make some changes since I didn't have enough of the same designer series paper.  And this is where I always get into trouble.  How you ask?  Well, my brain starts going and then I think of additional things I can do to improve the card.  Here is the new version of the Embrace Life card.  You'll want to compare this picture to the picture in my previous post.  I outlined the flower petals with the brush end of the Taken with Teal marker and also used the marker to make the center of the flower have some dimension.  I used the fine end of the marker to draw veins from the center of the flower too.

Note:  I had this post all typed up earlier while watching Lost and then previewed it and clicked on the back button and lost the whole post.  It took me 1.5 hours to type up (between watching and reading the subtitles on the screen...those of you who watched Lost will understand).  So now I'm really tired and it's way past my bedtime so I just gave you the list of supplies I used for the card.  If you need additional information, feel free to email me and ask.

SU! Open House

Tomorrow is my first SU! Open House, can you believe I have been a demonstrator for almost 5 years and this is the first Open House I have had?  I've always had a full time job and have just never had the time to prepare for one.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!  LOL!  But now that I don't have a job, I'm hoping I can turn my hobby into a business and make this my full time job.  One can dream right!  And sometimes we can turn our dreams into reality...we just need to work real hard.

Here are the cards I made for Make 'n Take.  Each person who attends my Open House will get to choose one of the cards to make.

Each person who attends will also get to make this cute little Post-it Note Purse.  Isn't it just the cutest thing!  The Post-its are 2" x 1.5".  I have some other goodies too, but I can't show them to you today...I need to leave some things hush hush, so that those attending will be surprised when they get here!

Tomorrow night I will edit this post with instructions and lists of supplies for each project, so check back late Saturday night or maybe on Sunday (LOL) I might be too tired Saturday night to post.

Valentine's Day Jar

I'm back...finally! Thanks to all that have continued to check my blog for updates and I apologize for being absent for so long.

Well I finally got my new rub-ons from the new Stampin' Up! catalog!  So I had to play with them.  Check out this jar that my sister bought at Big Lots this past summer.  It looks like a package that has a bow tied around it.  I used the Eastern Elegance rub-ons on this jar.  It was so fun and easy to do!  The new rub-ons come with 2 sheets per package, 1 each of black and white.  There are lots of images on each sheet.  I used one of the 12" borders around the corners of the jar lid (cutting the size piece I needed for each corner) and used a flower in the center of each side.  For the front of the jar I used the large flower.  You need to be careful when you are trying to figure out where you want to lay your image down.  I was trying to decide if I wanted to center my flower with 2 petals across the ribbon (at the top and bottom) or if I wanted 1 petal centered.  Well...part of the rub-on adhered to the jar when I had the 2 petals across the ribbon at the top, so that is what I went with.  But I think I would have preferred the 1 petal...oh well!

For the sides of the jar I used the widest 12" flower border.  I needed 4 inches for each side which means I would need 16" for the whole jar, that is why I opted for the flower on the front of the jar.  To right is a picture of the side of the jar.

I also created a tag that you can sort of see on the side of the jar.  I used a sample swatch of counter-top laminate that I got from the hardware store and inked it with VersaMark and then sprinkled red embossing powder on it and heat embossed it.  Then I used more of the rub-ons to decorate the tag.  I also used a few of the white rub-ons.  See a close-up view of the tag below.

I filled the jar with Cupid Corn - how cute are they?
