Scrapbook in an Evening - Page 1

Here is the 1st page of my Scrapbook in an Evening class.  I used last years Simply Scrappin' Kit called "At Home", because I was suppose to do a class with a bunch of girls about 6 months ago and we never have been able to get together to do.  I ordered all the supplies back in June so I can't let them go to waste.  However I will be going to a Weekend Scrapbookers Retreat this weekend in Freeport, Maine...most of the girls will be there so I figured we can make these this weekend.

I am also making a scrapbook for my friend Lori out in Denver, CO.  She was kind enough to let me stay at her house after the SU! convention and take part in a new home makeover show on HGTV called "Carter Can" with Carter Oosterhouse (see my About Me picture - that's me with Carter - is he HOT or what?!).  It was so much fun!!!!  I have a CD with all the pictures she took with her camera, all the pictures I took with my camera and then I was able to get the Production Assistant to send me a copy of all the pictures he took.  I was really not expecting to get the CD from the Production Assistant, but a few weeks ago I did receive it in the mail!  So I plan to use these pages for her scrapbook - it's the perfect theme and I am pretty sure the colors are perfect.  Now I just need to sit down and look at all the pictures and figure out which ones I want to print - that's another 4 hours gone!

Tomorrow I'm hoping to create a photo album with all the pages I've done with this kit.  Another new thing to learn that will take hours.  Don't get me wrong I LOVE all this technology, it's just that I get so consumed in it that I don't get anything else done!  Oh well, laundry and housework can wait another day - right?!

Sunrise Banner

I didn't get a chance today to take pictures of my "Scrapbook in an Evening" pages for today's post.  I got caught up in the beautiful sunrise pictures I took this morning in front of my house.  I have made one of the sunrise pictures into my banner (see above).  I'm pretty new to the blogging world and still trying to figure all this out (WOW, it's time consuming that's for sure).  I did figure out that I needed to upgrade my blog to a more expensive package in order to create my own banner...so I did that, because I wanted to share with everyone the beautiful sunrise that I see almost every morning.  I hope you enjoy the banner as much as I do!

Paper Spider Witch

I can't seem to stop thinking about all the different things you can make with the paper lanterns!  Although this little guy has been in the works for weeks.  I just couldn't seem to get him to the point where I was happy with him, but I think he's pretty cute now.  For the head I used a Styrofoam ball painted black and then added the googly eyes.  The witches hat I just free hand cut from Basic Black card stock and then added a piece of Green Galore card stock for the band around the hat.  The legs were made from black pipe cleaners.  For the body I used the black spider web paper from the Creepy Crawly Designer Series paper.  I used 12 strips cut 1" x 6".  Today while browsing around at Big Lots I found the spider web in the background for $3.00!  It's huge and is perfect for this spider!

This past Saturday I attended an all day crop and got to sit down and use one of my Simply Scrappin' Kits from last years catalog.  I was trying to create a "Scrapbook in an Evening" layout to use for a class.  This type of class is dedicated to just creating the pages so the customer can go home and just add pictures.  I will be posting these pages over the next several days, so please come back and check them out.

Sweet Treats

Finally...I finished my little Pringles can!  I have been playing with the face for days.  First I thought I was going to be able to use the Carved & Candlelit stamp set to stamp the face, but then when I finally found the set I realized the can was too big for the face.  Ugh!  So for a few days I have been playing around with different punches and finally I got it right (with the help of many family members that were here today for my Mom's birthday party), thanks everyone!

For the Pumpkin Can - I used paper from the Creepy Crawly designer series.  I just measured the height of the can and cut a strip of paper to wrap around it.  You will want to use Sticky Strip to adhere the ends to the can. I traced the cover and cut a circle and placed it inside the lid.  I used my scissors to make a whole in the center of the lid.  I used the 5 Petal Flower punch for the top of the pumpkin (adhered to the top of the cover) and used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a whole in the center of the flower.  I cut a thin strip of Creamy Carmel card stock and wrapped it around a Q-tip to get the curly-q.  I used a small piece of Close to Cocoa Satin Ribbon for the stem of the pumpkin.  For the eyes I used the Ticket Corner punch with the guard removed and punched the edge of Basic Black card stock, then I used the Small Oval punch to punch just half the oval placing it over the spot where I used the Ticket Corner punch.  For the nose I just cut a triangle.  For the mouth I used the Large Oval punch and cut it in half and then cut teeth out.

For the Candy Corn Vase - I used the Creepy Crawly designer series paper to wrap around the vase (I found at The Dollar Tree).  For the little flowers sticking out of the vase I used the Batty For You stamp set with my Marvelous Markers and stamped images on to Whisper White card stock.  I used the 1-1/4" Circle punch to punch out the images and then punched out 1-3/8" Circles in coordinating colors.  I then layered them on to card stock that I punched using the Scallop Circle punch.  I used bamboo skewers cut in half for the sticks and just used glue dots to stick the Scallop Circles to them.  Using the Crimper on 3 different pieces of colored card stock; I cut little strips and tied them onto the sticks and glue dotted them to the back of the Scallop Circles to keep them in place...otherwise they just keep sliding down the sticks.

Season of Joy Card Tote

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  I was incredibly busy last week.  My CT friends came up this past weekend for their annual trip to Maine, so...I had lots of cleaning to do around the house.  My daughter also came home for the long holiday weekend.  She usually takes the train back and forth on her trips home, but yesterday we needed to drive her back to Boston as her roommate officially quit last week.  Her roommate had the TV, so now my daughter had to bring back her TV and DVD player as well as her Dell laptop and printer we had order back in August before she went off to college.  It would have been difficult to bring all that back by herself on the train and then take the T and shuttle bus back to college.

I also had to get ready for my Stamp-a-Stack on Saturday for World Card Making Day.  Although I didn't have the turn out I had hoped for; we still had a great time and I think the girls who did come enjoyed themselves and liked the cards we made.  As an added bonus we each made this cute little card tote to put our 16 cards in.  To make this tote we used an 8½" x 11" piece of Purely Pomegranate card stock and scored it 1¼" on both long sides and then turned the card stock and scored at 4½" on both of the short sides.  Hold the card stock so it's landscape and cut the score lines that you made at 4½" on each side up to the score lines you made for 1¼".  I may not be explaining this well enough for you to understand (heck I've confused myself), to see a diagram of this click here.  I used Sticky Strip to adhere the sides of the tote together and trust me you will want to use Sticky Strip not a glue stick or Snail (mono-adhesive) because they just won't hold together like the Sticky Strip.  I then cut a 2¾" square piece of Whisper White card stock and used my Marvelous Markers (Old Olive, More Mustard, Brilliant Blue and Rose Red) to color on the stamp for the Season of Joy set.  I layered this on a 3 1/3" square of Brilliant Blue card stock.  For the scalloped edge on the top of the tote, I used two 8" x ½" strips of More Mustard card stock and used my 3/16" corner rounder without the guard to create the scallops.  I then scored each strip 1" on each side and then adhered to the top of the tote.  I then used Old Olive ¼" Grosgrain ribbon about 21" long and adhered to the sides of the tote with Sticky Strip.  It's really very easy to make!  Make one and leave me a comment to let me know how your tote came out!
