Today I created these adorable 3D pumpkins with 1" strips of paper. I first saw these pumpkins at convention in Denver, but they were strung up like paper lanterns and I couldn't think of any place in my house to hang them, so I decided to just make them look like pumpkins in a basket. I hope you like them.
I used the Creepy Crawly designer series paper, Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green cardstock. To make the large pumpkin I cut 14 - 8 inch long strips of paper, then I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in both ends of the strips. I put the ribbon through the bottom end and tied a knot then pulled the ribbon through the top end of the strips, pulling the ribbon to the desired shaping of the pumpkin. Tie a knot in the top end of the ribbon and cut it at a slant to resemble the stem of a pumpkin. For the medium pumpkin I used 12 strips 7" long and for the small pumpkin I used 12 strips 6" long. I used the 2 different green cardstocks to cut out leaves and strips of paper for the curls. To make the curls just cut thin strips of cardstock and wrap around a pencil...VIOLA!
OK, OK...I know there is no stamping on this project! I wanted to stamp leaves, but after going through all my stamps sets I could not find any leaves. Yes, it's hard to believe that with all my stamp sets I don't have any leaves! I think I had a retired set of leaves, but I sold most of my retired sets this summer. Soooo...too bad, I guess I will just have to purchase a leaf stamp set! Well, it just so happens that SU! has a special this month. If you purchase $30 worth of SU! products you qualify to purchase one of each of the six promotional stamp sets at 30% off! Check out the special http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/8756.asp. Leave me a comment if you are interested in the special, or leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my 3D Paper Pumpkins.
Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

These are beautiful! I'm totally CASEing your idea... I needed an extra special something (or two) to put in my secret sister's happy mail package this month... she lives in Canada and they don't celebrate Halloween, but Pumpkins can be used for fall in general... I think she'll love them! Thanks again for the idea!

How cute are these! I like this presentation SO MUCH better than the lanterns - I'm much more likely to put something like these out on a table. Thanks for sharing. :)
